Eventually, Nilid finds himself facing the ancient Fire Temple, now under the demonic rule of Or'innott's army. To reach it, he must pass through the windy plains infested by the sly Trixsters, cross the sharp rocks controlled by the bloodthirsty demons Oni, and cross the misty gorge swarming with Shadow Eaters.
Through it all, Nilid learns to harness the opposing forces within him, compressing them into a tight form before releasing them in a powerful explosion of pure energy that scatters and incinerates his enemies. With his newfound powers, he hopes to defeat Or'innott and his army and rekindle the Great Fire, bringing light to the frozen domain.
In the treacherous lands, Nilid hears a melody coming from a reed-covered hill, causing him an unnatural drowsiness. It is the mischievous trickster demon, Trikster, who lures Nilid with its enchanting music, attempting to strangle him with its tail. However, Nilid's awareness saves him from this trap, and he continues his journey to the Misty Gorge, an ominous place where the air is thick with magic, and the shadows are ever-present. Nilid must avoid the attention of the Shadows' devourers and keep to the dark corners to reach the Temple's gates, guarded by a once-mighty stone golem. The ancient builders made the golem to protect the path from flesh and blood creatures, but it was powerless against Or'innot's magic, and now the demon lords have enslaved it. Nilid must continue his journey through the Temple, where the once-grand sanctuary is now reduced to rubble and the Lamplight of the Holy Sun, which provided warmth and light in the days when the sun did not shine, is now twisted by Or'innot's runic obelisks. The ritual is not yet complete, and Nilid must break the obelisks and free the Lamplight from their runes' burden to stop it.
In his attempt to battle the supreme demon, Nilid realizes that their powers are not equal, and he is thrown to the edge of the abyss by Or'innot's sword. But the swamp witch and the faithful stone golem come to his aid, and together they defeat the embodiment of evil. The prophecy was accurate, but vague, as the Eye of Or'innot was nothing more than the merging of light and darkness, and every darkness can be defeated. The battle is won, but the shadows are still pulsating, and the Lamplight needs a fragment of light, which has found a new home in Nilid's body, for full restoration. Touching the Lamplight, Nilid feels the pulsating pain leave his body, and the Light, freed from the runes' burden, burns down the obelisks and the defeated Lord's remains.
